Shipping Options for Sellers Without Tax Numbers
Recipient Tax Number Verification
[Applicable for Spaceship Air Economy and Spaceship Air Standard ]
Starting December 20, 2024, it will be mandatory for all packages shipped via Spaceship Air Economy to include the recipient's RFC (Tax ID) or CURP (Unique Population Registry Code) for deliveries to Mexico. Users can conveniently enter this information in the "Tax ID" field when creating a shipment in Spaceship Pro.
- RFC format: 4 letters + 6 numbers + 3 letters/numbers
- CURP format: 4 letters + 6 numbers + 8 letters/numbers
Elimination of Duty-Free Threshold
[Applicable for all couriers]
Effective January 1, 2025, Mexico will eliminate the $50 USD duty-free threshold and introduce a 19% universal global tax on all shipments. As a result, Spaceship will generate tax invoices for shipments cleared on or after this date and will collect the applicable taxes accordingly.
Shipping Options for Sellers Without Tax Numbers
Sellers who do not possess an RFC or CURP can utilize the Spaceship Air Cosmetics shipping service, which currently does not require tax identification numbers. This option serves as a practical solution for those unable to comply with the new tax requirements. Alternatively, sellers may choose to ship through UPS or FedEx. Keeping in mind that a DDP handling fee will apply from the selected courier.
Impact on Orders Shipped via Spaceship Air Economy Not Cleared by December 31, 2024
For orders that have already been shipped but are not yet delivered, starting December 25th, Spaceship will initiate the verification process for the recipient's tax number. If any issues arise during this verification, our customer service team will reach out directly to the Spaceship Pro user for assistance. Users will then have several options: they can provide the correct tax number and arrange for the package to be reshipped, opt to use the Spaceship Air Cosmetics service, or request that the shipment be returned.
