Delivery Surcharge

Remote Area Delivery

HK$ 5 per kg HK$ 250 minimum per shipment

Remote Area Pickup

HK$ 5 per kg HK$ 250 minimum per shipment

Importing shipments from remote pickup locations may incur a surcharge when the collection location is distant or difficult to reach. This surcharge applies to international shipments. Check Remote Area ListThis surcharge can be quoted on Spaceship Pro given the correct postal code is provided.

Residential Address

When sending packages to a residential address, a fee of HKD 40 will be applied for each shipment.

For these home deliveries, DHL will proactively notify the recipient via email or SMS about their shipment status. Recipients will have the option to select the most convenient delivery preferences through the On Demand Delivery website.

Address Correction

HKD 100.00 per shipment
DHL apply a fixed surcharge for shipments with incomplete, outdated, or incorrect destination addresses provided by the shipper. DHL will search and determine the correct address to ensure delivery. This applies to international shipments.

Undeliverable Shipment Return

If a shipment is undelivered due to unpaid tax, regulated items, prohibited items, or other reasons, Spaceship will charge a return handling fee. Please refer to this page for the return handling fees for different situations.

Saturday Pickup/Delivery

In countries where Saturday is not a normal working day, DHL can arrange an ad-hoc pickup/delivery of smaller shipments up to 30 kg at HKD350 per shipment. The service is available at selected postal locations only. For further details contact Customer Service.

 

Size and Weight Surcharge

Oversize Piece

An oversize charge of HKD170 per piece will be added for large items exceeding 100 cm in length. This charge applies to international shipments and does not overlap with overweight piece surcharges that may already be in place.

Overweight Piece

A surcharge of HKD900 per piece is applicable to all international shipments weighing over 70 kg, including pallets.

    Non-Stackable Surcharge

    A fixed surcharge of HKD 2,500 per pallet is applied to non-stackable pallets. This surcharge is for pallets that cannot be stacked due to their shape, content, or packaging material, or if requested by the shipper. Pallets weighing less than 30 kg are exempt from this surcharge. It is relevant to international shipments.

    Non-Conveyable Piece

    A fixed surcharge at HKD170 per is applied to every piece within a shipment with an actual weight between 25 kg – 70 kg. The surcharge does not apply to pieces already subject to Overweight or Oversize Piece surcharge.

     

    Customs Clearance Fee

    Export Declaration

    A fee of HKD45 per shipment is applicable for Export Declaration. This declaration is necessary for controlled commodities or shipments that surpass the value threshold or weight limit in specific countries. Shippers who submit their declaration online may be able to avoid local charges based on the origin country. Customers in Hong Kong must request this declaration before arranging for pickup.

    Bonded Transit

    A charge of HKD400 per shipment is applied for customs bond shipping, which is required for both export and import shipments when DHL is involved in handling any bonded transfers.

    Multiline Entry

    A fee of HKD45 per line is applicable for shipments with multiple commodities during the import process. Charges will be incurred if there are more than 5 lines on the customs clearance, reflecting different commodities or countries of manufacture.

    Bonded Storage

    A fee of HKD 100 plus HKD 2 per kilogram is applied on a daily basis per shipment. If customs are unable to release the shipment after 3 calendar days, bonded storage charges will be incurred due to inaccurate or missing paperwork. These charges commence after the freight arrival date or broker notification and are the responsibility of the duty and tax payer.

    Permits and License

    A fee of HKD400 per shipment is applied to assist in the process of filing licenses. To accelerate import of selected controlled commodities, such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, computer monitors, laser CD players, cosmetics, eyeglasses, food and food products, DHL is required to file specific information in order to obtain the required import permits or licenses. 

    Clearance Processing

    A fee of HKD85 per shipment is charged for shipment clearance processing in certain countries. These costs are necessary to import shipments and meet the requirements of government agencies in those selected countries.

    Duty Tax Paid

    DHL charges either HKD 105 or 2% of the duty and tax charges, whichever is higher, per shipment. It is applicable to DDP shipments.  These charges apply whenever duties, taxes, or other regulatory fees occur, and the shipper has requested billing outside of the destination country.

    If DHL advances or guarantees duties, taxes, or regulatory fees on behalf of the recipient, an administrative fee will be charged. DHL will charge a handling fee of HKD 150 per shipment or 2% of the duties and taxes, whichever is higher.

     

    Other

    Elevated Risk

    HKD270 per shipment is applied when shipping to or importing from a destination country, DHL is operating at elevated risk due to continuous state of war, civil unrest, or continuous threats from terrorism. Countries affected (subject to change): Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, Haiti, Iraq, Israel, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, Venezuela and Yemen.

    Restricted Destination

    HKD350 per shipment applies when shipping to or importing from a destination country that is subject to specific trade restrictions imposed by the UN Security Council. Countries affected (subject to change): Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen

    Prohibited Item Fee

    Shipments that are tendered to DHL in contravention of or not in compliance with applicable laws and regulations or DHL’s terms and conditions of service or contractual service (including, but not limited to, prohibited shipments or shipments that DHL does not accept or regularly provide service for without an exception, e.g. dangerous goods and hazardous materials) are subject to a fee of HK$1,500 per package. This fee is without prejudice and in addition to the shipper’s responsibility for all other sums that DHL may incur and claims against DHL resulting from the contravention or non-compliance.
