Accurate Shipping Declarations for Customs Clearance

Clear and accurate shipping item declarations will help to expedite customs clearance. Any false, under, or missing declarations may result in customs clearance issues, forced return of the shipment, extra charges, and penalties.

When completing the items declaration, please provide detailed descriptions of the items.

You can refer to the following examples for guidance.

Improper Item Description Suggested Item Description
Gift / Present Boxed Jigsaw Puzzles (Gift)
Drink Bottled Red Wine, 13.5% abv, 500mL per bottle
Snacks Bagged Potato Chips, 50 g per bag (no meat, no egg)
iPhone iPhone (P.I. 967-II)

Tips for proper declaration

  • Specify the unit of the item as clearly as possible, such as Boxed or Canned.
    Example: Boxed Jigsaw Puzzles
  • If the item being declared is food, please include the net weight of the food for accurate documentation.
Example: Bagged Potato Chips, 50 g per bag
  • If you are declaring alcoholic beverages, please clearly state the alcohol concentration for quick inspection by customs authorities.
Example: Bottled Red Wine, 13.5% abv, 500mL per bottle
  • Provide a detailed description of the material and intended use of the goods to assist customs officials in conducting inspections more efficiently.
    Example: Women's Cotton T-shirt
  • Please make sure the quantity matches the unit description.
Example: The description for 5 boxes of masks should be Boxed Masks (50 pcs per box) and the quantity is 5.
  • Provide a fair market value. If the item is second-hand, the declared value can be reasonably depreciated. Please declare the item's value as accurately as possible. Customs may request proof of purchase to verify the item's value.
  • Include the Harmonized System (HS) code for your item. Certain countries, like those in Europe, mandate the use of HS codes for smooth customs clearance processes. For guidance on adding an HS code in Spaceship Pro, please consult the article titled "How to Include Harmonised Code (HS Code) for Your Shipment Item."
