Delivery Surcharge

Residential Surcharge

UPS provides delivery service to residential addresses as well as business addresses. A residential delivery is one made to a home, including a business operating out of a home. For each residential delivery, an additional charge of HK$33 per shipment applies. UPS Worldwide Express Freight Services will be charged at HK$964 per shipment. This surcharge can be quoted on Spaceship Pro given the "residential address" box is checked

Extended Area Surcharge

UPS provides a collection delivery service in extended areas as well as urban areas. An additional charge of HK$256 per shipment or HK$5.2 per kg applies, whichever is greater, for shipments collected or delivered in an extended area. Note: Also known as Delivery Area Surcharge (DAS).

Remote Area Surcharge

This surcharge is applied for delivery to or pickup from an area beyond UPS extended areas, which are less accessible for pickups and deliveries.

A charge of HK$276 per shipment or HK$5.80 per kg applies, whichever is greater, for delivery to or collection from an area beyond UPS extended areas which are less accessible for pickups and deliveries. Saturday Delivery

Delivery of shipments is available at an additional charge of HK$110 for each UPS Express Envelope or each shipment of UPS Express packages. 

UPS Worldwide Express Freight® Services provides Saturday Delivery to select destinations in the U.S. and Canada for an additional charge of HK$1,705 per shipment.

Undeliverable Shipment Return

Shipments refused by the consignee, or which for any other reason cannot be delivered, will be held, and Spaceship will attempt to contact the shipper for further instructions, including return. UPS will charge applicable transportation costs plus a HKD78 surcharge per undeliverable shipment apply to any return.

If a shipment is undelivered due to regulated items or prohibited items,  Spaceship will charge an additional return handling fee. Please refer to this page for the return handling fees for different situations.

Address Correction

An additional charge of HK$100 per package or a maximum of HK$291 per shipment may be billed to the shipper for unsuccessful delivery because of an incorrect address, or if addressed to a P.O. Box.

Direct Delivery Only

Direct Delivery Only shipments are only delivered to the address on the shipping label and may not be rerouted, redirected or delivered to an alternate address. The shipments are eligible for Hold for Pickup at UPS Customer Centre, Reschedule Delivery and Return to Sender. This service is available for residential and commercial shipments. A fee of HK$17 applies to each package in the shipment.

Print Return Label

When a return label is created through Spaceship Pro, a printing fee of HK$8 will be applied for the return label.

Delivery Reattempt

One delivery attempt is included in the UPS Worldwide Express Freight rate. Additional delivery attempts will be charged at HK$372 for each shipment of UPS Worldwide Express Freight Services.

 

Customs Clearance Fee

Duty/Tax Forwarding Surcharge

If you choose the "DDP" tax handling option, a surcharge of HKD150 will be applied to the shipper in case of incurring tax and duty charges.

Customs Brokerage Charges

UPS provides customs brokerage service at no additional charge for routine customs clearance (including formal entries for shipments of up to five tariff lines). Additional charges may apply for complex customs clearance procedures and consolidated clearance requirements. For more information, please contact Spaceship customer service representative.

Disbursement Fee 

In order to expedite customs clearance, UPS may advance duty and taxes on a customer’s behalf. A Disbursement Fee based on the amount advanced will be assessed and billed. The Disbursement Fee for importation into different country varies. The average rate will be 2-4% of the import duties and taxes, subject to a minimum of US$5-$10 per shipment.

Permits & License Application Fee

At shipper’s or consignee’s request, UPS may apply for import or export permits or licenses for shipments containing radio transmitting devices (e.g. mobile phones) or strategic commodities on the shipper or consignee’s behalf. An application for a permit or license for strategic commodities may require pre-classification services to be rendered.

  • A fee of HK$338 will apply for each application for a permit or license for radio transmitting devices.
  • A fee of HK$338 will apply for pre-classification services for each permit application, and a fee of HK$733 will apply for each application for a permit or license for strategic commodities. 

The fees above do not include the actual application and/or permit or license fees and other charges that may be payable to the relevant authorities.

Local Taxes and Duties

All rates exclude any taxes, duties and surcharges that may be imposed pursuant to local regulations.

 

Size and Weight Surcharge

Shipping Charge Correction Audit Fee

The Shipping Charge Correction Audit Fee will be HKD 13 per shipment or 8% of the total amount of shipping charge corrections due to discrepancies in billed weight, whichever is greater. This fee will only apply if the actual billed freight charge exceeds 25% of the freight charge at the time the shipment is created. Additionally, the fee will be billed separately and will not apply to fuel surcharges.

Additional Handling Charge

An additional handling charge of HK$125 per package will apply to the following:

  •  Any article that is not fully encased in corrugated cardboard, including but not limited to metal, wood, hard plastic, soft plastic (e.g. plastic bag) or expanded polystyrene foam (e.g. styrofoam)
  • Any cylindrical item, such as a barrel, drum, pail, or tyre, that is not fully encased in a corrugated cardboard shipping container
  • Any package with the longest side exceeding 122 cm or its second longest side exceeding 76 cm 
  • Any package with an actual weight greater than 25 kg
  • Each package in a shipment where the average weight per package is greater than 25 kg and the weight for each package is not specified on the source document or the UPS automated shipping system used

Large Package Surcharge - Minimum Billable Weight (MBW)

A package is considered a “Large Package” when its length plus girth [(2 x width) + (2 x height)] combined exceeds 300 cm, but does not exceed the maximum UPS size of 400 cm. Large Packages are subject to a minimum billable weight of 40 kg, at a surcharge of HK$527 per package. An Additional Handling Charge will not be assessed when a Large Package Surcharge is applied.

Over Maximum Limits Fee

UPS small package services do not accept shipments exceeding the following weight and dimensions. If in UPS’s discretion, UPS does accept shipments exceeding these maximum limits, an Over Maximum Limits Fee of HK$2,178 per package will apply to the following:

  • Maximum weight per package of 70 kg
  • Maximum length per package of 274 cm
  • Maximum size per package of 400 cm in length and girth [(2 x width) + (2 x height)] combined 

Oversize Pallet Handling Surcharge

An Oversize Pallet Handling Surcharge of HK$2,723 per pallet will also apply to UPS Worldwide Express Freight® Services when a pallet’s dimensions exceed the size or weight restrictions (which vary by origin and destination) 

 

Other

Prohibited Item Fee

Shipments that are tendered to UPS in contravention of or not in compliance with applicable laws and regulations or UPS’s terms and conditions of service or contractual service (including, but not limited to, prohibited shipments or shipments that UPS does not accept or regularly provide service for without an exception, e.g. dangerous goods and hazardous materials) are subject to a fee of HK$1,500 per package. This fee is without prejudice and in addition to the shipper’s responsibility for all other sums that UPS may incur and claims against UPS resulting from the contravention or non-compliance.
